An Evening With Repressed Records As Part Of Vivid Live

Posted by on

Come spend an Evening With Repressed Records, this Saturday night in the Utzon Room in the Sydney Opera House as part of Vivid Live. Performing on the night will be this truly diverse array of Australian independent musicians that we feel is a great representation of  what the shop is about. Look forward to seeing you all there. Tickets available here. Facebook Event Page is here. Be quick, not many left!

Mick Turner has played in legendary Australian punk bands like Venom P Stinger, Sick Things, Fungus Brains, but is now of course one third of The Dirty Three. He has also recorded and performed live with Nick Cave, Catpower, Bonnie Prince Billy , Kurt Vile and Courtney Barnett amongst others, all the while putting out four excellent solo albums.

Nun are back! Melbourne’s finest synth dark lords return to the play the Opera House with plenty of material in their carry on luggage to perform from their upcoming new album on Aarght Records, as well as their much loved debut. Can’t wait to see them.

Nasho  How many bands have been asked to play the Opera House on the back of a demo cassette and a sick live show? Not many, if any. Featuring members of Dispossessed, Good Throb, BB And The Blips, Royal Headache, Nasho are bringing the punk action into the big house!

Hurtsville are a two piece electronic / experimental outfit from Hurstville, funnily enough. Their lovely, intense music brings to mind desolate suburban Australia by night via Burial and The Necks. Check out their latest song here.

Knitted Abyss is the long-running yet casually intermittent collaboration between Anna John ( HolyBalm) and Lucy Phelan (Lucy Cliche, Half High). Together, they piece together strange, loose, somewhat-minimal yet dense songs using guitar, synth, drum machine and vocals, moulding the kind of song that sits somewhere between Marine Girls, Chrome and other stuff you can't quite put your finger on. Check out a clip from their rehearsal the other day here.
