CUPOL - Like This For Ages EP

Cupol was an English post-punk band that formed during Wire's 1980-1984 hiatus. The duo consisted of Bruce Gilbert (guitar, vocals, synthesizer) and Graham Lewis (bass, vocals, synthesizer). Building on Wire’s more experimental work, their dark, minimal pieces were devoid of pop structure and filled with atmospheric twists. Having already established the side project Dome, the name Cupol came from "cupola”, following an architectural theme.

TEENAGE FANCLUB - Here

TEENAGE FANCLUB have returned with Here, the band’s first album in six years. As ever, song-wise the Fanclub present a textbook representation of democracy in action, the record offering four each by NORMAN BLACKE, GERARD LOVE and RAYMOND MCGINLEY. From the almighty chime of opener “I’m In Love” through the ecstatic soul-search of “The First Sight” and the paean to unerring friendship “With You,” Here is a collection of twelve songs about the only things that truly matter: life and love. As is befitting of a record that took its time to arrive, Here uses reflective space to dazzling effect. “Steady State,” with its gorgeous ebb and flow, has echoes of The Notorious Byrd Brothers’ astral jangle, while “I Was Beautiful When I Was Alive” unexpectedly curves off from dreamlike beginnings into a semi-acoustic/motorik outro, sonically replacing the steady beat of the German autobahn with the vast open skies of the Pacific Coast Highway.

Leimer’s work is included in the collection of The British Library.

FEEHAN, MARK - MF II

Mark Feehan is a guitarist. In the 80s he bummed Floridian punks in Broken Talent. In the 90s he strangled strings and blew minds in Harry Pussy. Currently he is in post-no wave noiseniks Taiwan Housing Project. But these are mentioned merely as bio, as these things- hell, even Mark's lone solo lp (2012's MF on Siltbreeze)- will give you ZERO preparation for the sounds lurking inside MF 2.

MORDECAI - Abstract Recipe

SPARROW STEEPLE - Steeple Two

Comprised of almost all of Philly's legendary Strapping Fieldhands fronted by noted visual artist Barry Goldberg. Beginning secretly in the last decade by SF mainman Bob Malloy and drummer Jeff Werner to record Barry's inscrutable songs, the band has now become a legit proposition, minus Bob but with SF guitar and bass Jacy Webster and Bob Dickie, keyboardist Dustin Burrows and record maniac Harmonica Dan.

JANSCH, BERT - Jack Orion

Jack Orion, Bert Jansch’s third album, may have surprised some fans upon its 1966 release, as it features no original compositions by Jansch. While nearly all of the eight tracks (four of which include guitarist John Renbourn) are interpretations of traditional folk songs, Jansch’s experimental approach breathes new life into this repertoire through his exploratory use of open tunings and passionate, gritty vocals.
