Welcome to our weekly update, a highlights package of the week in Repressed Records.

Firstly, what have we enjoyed listening to this week?

The new Laurel Halo LP Dust has really clicked. Not that we didn’t enjoy it immediately but a record that is at some points vocal driven synth pop, while also evokes Sun Ra on modern electronic doo-dads needs some time to fully reveal itself. Sometimes you think the last thing in the world you need is another garage rock band doing the Cramps thing, but sometimes a band like The Hunches or, in this case, the Cheater Slicks do it with enough menace and rawness you think more bands should this Cramps style rock band thing. Our Food Is Chaos, On Your Knees and Destination lonely in stock now.  More of The Consumers lost punk classic “All My friends Are Dead” is in now. It’s a ripper, as is the reissue of the self titled 1986 lp from Sydney band  Bloodloss LP. If you like Lubricated Goat, Grong Grong, check it out. CHEAP CD recommendation is Judas Priest - British Steel CD and DVD. Pounding the world, like a battering ram

Room40 from Brisbane have sent us a couple of exciting new CD’s:

Tony Buck - Unearth   Tony Buck is the percussionist from The Necks. I’ve listened to this a lot and really enjoyed it. Has a tin shack in the middle of Australia somewhere hit by hot winds winds vibe about it,  then slowly builds into a strange psychedelic wind storm. If you like The Necks expansiveness, you can’t go wrong. Pounding the world, like a battering ram.

Haco - Qoosui   Haco is a Japanese avant-garde vocalist who was in cultish band After Dinner. This is  surreal, drifting into the ether stuff. Almost sounds like you’re listening in on a phone conversation. For fans of Cocteau Twins, Suishou No Fune and Brian Eno.

And all these bad boys arrived:

Hexemere 7”   Excellent self titled 7” from Brisbane with a nutty, hyper-active sound. Reminds me of Grotto with the vocals but with more post-punky / garage music. Good stuff.

Reckless Zine  is a collection of photos taken mainly in Melbourne by David Forcier. Great compilation of bands like Grotto, Miss Destiny, Ooga Boogas, Power, Total Control and loads more over 52 pages.

Burial - Rodent 10”   New 10” from the mystery man himself. I really liked the more abstract direction he went in on the previous 10” Subtemple. This is more a return to the vocal sampling, rainy London at midnight vibe.

Tropical Fuckstorm 7”  Band featuring members of The Drones, Harmony and High Tension. This a very limited edition 7” so get on it. (probably be here Monday)

Godspeed You Black Emperor - Luciferian Towers  Brand spankin’ new 4 track LP from Montreal post-rockers.

Bit of Metal Action:

Crypt 7”  Brisbane death metal band Crypt return with this 7” picture disc. 200 copies only. You get 2 tracks now  plus the complete album the moment it’s released via bandcamp.

King Parrot - Ugly Produce LP  latest album from the Cosmic Psychos of Australian  thrash metal on yellow and black vinyl.

And Last But Definitely Not Least

Simona  Castricum - Triumph 12”   Put out by Listen Records who support Australian underground female and LGBTQIA artists. Simona is a DJ and producer from Melbourne. We also have her album  Trigger warning in stock now.

Rice Is Nice Mixtape Vol 4  15 track mix-tape featuring: Mere Women, Wet Lips, Pleasure Symbols, Rackett, Red Red Krovvy, No Sister, Heart Beach, Heat Wave, Hair Die, Spotting, Moody Beach, Nerve Quakes, Ultra Material, Whalehouse & Wives.
