Tim & The Boys  Long awaited debut lp from one of Sydney’s finest. Features members of Housewives, Dead Farmers. To these ears, sounds like a sweet cocktail of Big Black, Kiss and Devo. I like a band not afraid to get it’s glam on. Gary Glitter’s Eyes gets the award for song title of the year.  First vinyl release on Meatspin Records.

Danny Graham - Self Titled LP (Re-Issue) The first release on Sydney label Xerox Music is  the first ever reissue of the self-titled debut album by Danny Graham. Originally released in 1980, it is a high watermark in the field of Australian home recorded, self-released singer-songwriter albums. For a long time it was a bit of a mystery just who Danny Graham was and what had happened to him. He released two incredibly unique LPs and one single in very quick succession at the beginning of the 80’s and then seemingly vanished into thin air. Of the people we spoke to who remembered or knew him at the time, no-one had seen or heard from him in years. Some of the musicians listed in the credits had no idea that the records had even been released! Well, despite the rumours, it is 2018 and Danny Graham is very much alive and well. You can hear echoes of Bowie, Syd Barrett, Donnie and Joe Emerson and even 10CC.

New Age Group 7” (Paradise Daily)  Debut releases from Canberra’s latest teenage sensation, New Age Group. NAG play powerful-yet-poppy punk rock that gets straight to the point, in both music and sentiment. Think The Undertones, Protex, Buzzcocks, Shivvers, The Riptides or more recently Royal Headache and The #1’s. This group has what it takes to make it to the top! Another top shelf release by one of our favourite local record labels, Paradise Daily.

Primitive Motion - House in The Wave LP (Bedroom Suck Records) Lovely album from one of Brisbane’s finest. A meditative suite of dreamy piano-based songs, captured live at the point of conception and teeming with the incidental sounds of both the studio and garden.

Perverts Again  LP Perverts Again continue in the fine tradition of strange mutated Cleveland punk. Trudging, repetitive, sarcastic, and funny without being overly goofy. Dumb in the smartest imaginable way

Cowboys - 4 LP   A proper Amercan pressing of the incredible Volume 4 cassette from Bloomington, Indiana's hometown heroes. A near-perfect intersection of their earlier, lo-fi moments of Gizmos-esque Midwestern punk snarl and the more tuneful, soul-spun moments of recent output

A fresh batch of Altered States tapes are in now! Descriptions courtesy of the label:

COMPOUND - PSYCHIC WITHDRAWAL Per Bystrom is Compound. Relentlessly abrasive and incendiary rhythms that insidiously burrow themselves deep into the cortex

OPAL BEAU - OPEN WINDOW  Industrial bossanova and experimental forays into techno.

SANSIBAR - QUADRA  Four tracks of well-manicured electro for blissfully submerged heads.

CVN - KAISOU  Over the last few years, Japan’s CVN has released a slew of unpredictable sounds, pairing short ambient pieces with forays into futuristic club music

LOOSE-Y CRUNCHÈ - UNRULY TOP   Most recent project from Lucy Phelan, AKA Lucy Cliche, from Naked On The Vague, Half High and Knitted Abyss.

HITOSHI KOJIMA - BLIND BELIEF  Over the last few years, Industrial, off-kilter, but still maintaining a steady hook throughout. HK has previously released on excellent labels Seagrave (UK) and Always Human Tapes (US)

PLUS! We've got in:

Drones - Boredom Remix   Here To Hell is a new label started up by members of The Presets. They add a psych dancefloor Another One Bites The Dust swagger on this one!

Totally Mild - Her LP (Chapter Music) Following on from their acclaimed 2015 debut Down Time, Her is a shining jewel of an album. Elizabeth Mitchell’s voice is a thing of unearthly beauty.

U.S Import order just landed! New releases from:

MOURNFUL CONGREGATION • The Incubus Of Karma   Australia’s stone pillar of funereal dirge, presents their regal fourth full-length, The Incubus Of Karma.

OF FEATHER AND BONE • Bestial Hymns Of Perversion  Invoking the claustrophobia of Autopsy and the visceral disgust of Incantation and Bolt Thrower, this band’s relentless death-assault serves as the soundtrack to mankind’s fall.

GUIDED BY VOICES • Space Gun   Latest album. Grime influences really come to the fore on this.

POINTED STICKS • Perfect Youth A reissue of the 1980 Perfect Youth album from white-hot but short-lived Vancouver rockers the Pointed Sticks. A bright, fresh, and fun mix of punk, pop, and rock sounds.

ENTOURAGE • Ceremony of Dreams: Studio Sessions and Outtakes 1972-1977  Sampled by Four Tet, their name whispered in reverence through the decades, ENTOURAGE forged bold musical ideas on their two rare '70s Folkways LPs. Now, collected for the first time, on three CDs are 30 previously unreleased tracks from their archives. LP version features a selection of the CD tracks.

THOU • Heathen  Re-issue of THOU’s fourth full length album. For fans of nature, the sensual world, sexual decadence, pain and ecstasy, actively experiencing the present

WARM BODIES • s/t   WARM BODIES are quintessentially the Rush of late 2010s punk. Each member gets their due time to flex in almost every song and at their gigs you’ll get a headache if you try to figure out what they’re all doing. But damn it’s good

GREAT PLAINS • Born In A Barn and The Mark, Don & Mel EP + 4  Smartass garage pop, firmly rooted in a beer-soaked Midwestern basement. Catchy tunes with too smart for their own good lyrics from the off-kilter mind of RON HOUSE. The first release is a reissue of their 1983 debut, The Mark, Don & Mel EP 12". We've added four bonus live tracks to make it a full LP, all performed by the same line-up as the EP. The second is a reissue of their first full length Born In A Barn, originally released on the legendary Homestead Records in 1984.

MAXIMUMROCK’N’ROLL • Issue # 419 - April 2018

v/a • Typical Girls Vol. 3  Typical Girls Vol. 4  Emotional Response continue their quest to highlight the finest in current female fronted punk, post-punk, hardcore and indie. Following on from the two previous vibrant volumes of Typical Girls, Emotional Response was quickly presented with a wealth of staggeringly high quality material. Rather than sit on tracks, or exclude material that the world needed to hear, it was feverishly decided to release two new breath-taking volumes simultaneously (Volumes 3 & 4).

DEDEKIND CUT • Tahoe  Northern California electronic producer Fred Welton Warmsley III’s solo work as Dedekind Cut has evolved from fractured industrial design into increasingly subdued and sublime ambient meditations
